What are Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ideal for patients who are unhappy with the look and feel of their natural smile. Veneers are thin and custom made for each patient, ensuring a comfortable and highly-realistic look. Veneers are relatively durable, lasting for upwards of 10 years before needing to be replaced. Veneers can cover front teeth that are stained, chipped, discolored or uneven.

Why are Porcelain Veneers needed?

Veneers are a type of cosmetic option that simply covers unsightly teeth. They’re ideal for patients who are ready to transform the look of their smiles without needing invasive surgery or more complicated procedures. Common reasons for needing veneers include:

• Your teeth are stained, discolored and yellowed
• Your teeth are chipped, cracked or fractured
• You don’t like the look of your smile
• Your teeth are uneven and unsightly

What makes you a good candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

The veneer procedure requires little to no anesthetic, so it’s ideal for most patients. You will find that veneers are durable and last a long time, so you won’t need to worry about them or come in for routine visits to check how they’re fitting. Once the veneers are placed, they look natural and enhance your smile and face. They are ideal for most patients, though an exam and consultation are required before having them made and placed.

What happens during the Porcelain Veneer procedure?

The front of your teeth will be slightly buffed to make room for the new porcelain veneers. Little to no anesthetic is required during this particular process. Impressions are taken of only the front of your teeth and sent to a lab where the porcelain veneers are created for you. You’ll come back in for a second appointment so that the veneers can be placed. Dr. Melissa Schuldt will carefully line up and place the veneers and adjust them as needed. Your new veneers will last for years with routine care and maintenance.
